Richard Leach is a leading contemporary writer of words for new hymns and anthems. He began writing hymns in 1987, while serving as a pastor in New England. Since then, his work has been published in the United States, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong and Scotland, in denominational and independent publications. He was a United Church of Christ pastor from 1978 to 1999, and is now a lay member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
